Yoga FAQs - Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh, India

We specialize in internationally recognized 200, 300 & 500 hour residential yoga teacher training certification courses registered with Yoga Alliance® with emphasis on traditional style of hatha yoga. Apart from that, we also conduct 10 days intensive yoga and meditation courses for beginners and intermediate level yoga students which aim to create and develop deep understanding of yoga and meditation as taught in most of the renowned yoga institutes in India.
How can I become a certified yoga teacher or yoga instructor?
To become a certified yoga teacher, you must successfully complete a yoga teacher training course and show competence in your ability to teach a yoga class. Find out what the suggested minimum requirements for yoga teachers are at: www.yogaalliance.org. The yoga alliance page also lists training programs and yoga schools that meet their minimum standards.
How do I register for yoga teacher training course?
Submit your application online or download it and send it to us by email. Once your application is processed, we'll send you a mail asking you to pay US$ 200 as booking amount through PayPal. Please note that booking amount is non-refundable advance towards the course fee with an option to switch from one batch to another within 12 months of your current booking. Remaining fee needs to be paid after your arrival at our centre.
Can I use my credit card to pay the remaining course fee in Rishikesh?
We are accepting credit card payments for booking amounts. Remaining fees can be paid either in cash or by TCs. If you opt for paying your remaining fees by credit card then additional 2% will be charged as transaction fee. You can also use your ATM debit cards (Master/Visa/Electron) to withdraw cash in Rishikesh.
How much do I need to pay for food and accommodation?
You don't need to pay extra money as our course fee includes food and accommodation. You'll be provided a private room with all the basic amenities like attached bathroom, 24 hours water supply, hot water in the mornings & evenings etc.
Arrival & Departure
2 days before starting of the course, your stay at our center is complimentary. In order to attend the orientation program, one should arrive atleast a day before starting of the course by 3 p.m. On last day of the course, graduation ceremony takes place and it finishes by 9 p.m., therefore, departure should be planned one day after completion of the course.
Which kind of visa do I need to apply for?
You should apply strictly for a tourist visa and purpose of your visit to India should be travel or tourism (yoga and ayurveda retreats in Rishikesh, visiting TAJ in Agra etc.). Invitation letter is not required for tourist visa. Please do not mention about joining a yoga course on your visa application form to avoid any complication. You cannot get study or yoga visa by registering for our course. Contact details of Indian embassy in your country can be found here.
In general, visa expiry date is counted from the day visa is issued. Please verify it with the concerned embassy. Try to apply for your visa 2 or 3 weeks before your travel date.

How can I reach Rishikesh from Delhi and how much does it cost?
Delhi airport to Rishikesh by car is a 6 hours journey. We have a transportation package of US$ 150 which will cover your airport pick-up, transfer from Delhi to Rishikesh and after completion of the course transfer from Rishikesh to Delhi. One way transportation i.e. Delhi airport to Rishikesh can also be availed for US$ 85. In case, your flight arrives in the night and if you want to stay overnight in Delhi, airport pick-up cost will be US$ 25 and a reasonably good accommodation at a hotel in Delhi can be arranged for US$ 40 or 50. Our travel arrangements are executed under the supervision of professsionals and we are always ready with a back-up plan, in case of emergencies. Another good option is to travel by train (airport to New Delhi train station by car, then by train to Haridwar and from Haridwar to Rishikesh by car). Travel by bus is quite cheap but a bit inconvenient for first time visitors.
Cheap hotels can also be found in Delhi (Main Bazar, Paharganj area) for USD 10~20. From Delhi airport to Paharganj can be reached by airport metro express in less than 20 minutes and it costs less than US$ 2.
Is it safe to travel alone to Rishikesh?
Yes, it is provided you plan it properly. Our recommendations would be not to get lured by unknown people offering cheap options etc.
How can I use internet at the centre?
We have internet cafe inside our premises which can be used free of cost. If you prefer to bring your own laptop then you can avail our wireless internet connection and it costs US$ 40 for 6 weeks.
Do I need to bring my own yoga mat, linen etc.?
No. It is provided at the center. Bring things which are personal in nature e.g. towels, toiletries, mobiles, camera, laptops etc.
What is dress code for the yoga class?
White color clothes are recommended. Try to avoid black color clothes. Modest dressing is highly recommended.
Weather in Rishikesh & recommended clothings.
April to August - hot & rainy weather - light cotton clothes are recommended. October to March - weather in Rishikesh varies from pleasant to cold and woolen clothes, jackets etc. are recommended. December and January are the coldest months in Rishikesh and we don't provide room heaters.
Washing machine is not available. In general, most students wash their under garments, socks etc. in their rooms. Laundry service is available and it's quite cheap (rates vary from US$ 1~2 for 5 to 10 pieces of clothes).
Any particular vaccination is not rerequired. Bringing mosquito repellants, lotions etc. are recommended.
How many students are registered in each batch of TTC?
Approx. 30 in batch-I (Shree narayan yogpeeth) & approx. 20 in batch-II (Shree narayan yogpeeth). Our yoga ashram is under construction.
I am vegan and I need to know if that would be a problem concerning the food that you serve?
Food provided at our center is 100% vegetaian but not vegan. It can be arranged provided you inform the chef about it well in advance.
